When I decided to officially launch my pet photography business, it was because I wanted to provide a way for you to get beautiful images that showcased not just your dog, but you and the special bond you have with your dog.

I've had six dogs over the course of my adult life -- two that I got as puppies and four that were rescued as adults. They've all been special and have held a special place in my heart. Sadly we have almost no photos of our second dog as he came into our lives just as film was becoming more rare and phones didn't have cameras on them. He was taken from us by a liver tumor after just a few years and he is the one I'm most sad about not having any print photos of -- it just wasn't something we thought about at the time, because we thought we had more time. My current pack consists of two German Shepherds -- Kula and Ryker. And a rescue cat named Tiny Tim. Who is not so tiny....

My older dog, Kula (the tan and black dog on the right) is now 10ish, was adopted at the age of 3ish from the Silicon Valley Humane Society after she was found roaming the streets as a stray. She was still recovering from surgery when we adopted her. She was already stressed from being in the shelter, from the surgery and then being brought into a new home. Add that to the already protective nature of the breed, her initial introductions to the neighborhood were rough. I had to seek out professional help and found several good trainers who helped us through the process and now she can be taken to outdoor restaurants and parks with no issues.

Kula - CGC, CGCA

Kula and I worked hard to learn about each other and together we earned to AKC titles in the AKC Canine Good Citizen program: the AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC), and AKC Community Canine (CGCA). Both of these titles require the dog and the handler to showcase their relationship, basic obedience and the skills to be a polite member of society. Skills we had to develop were basic obedience like: sit, stay, come along with politely greeting a stranger, allowing some basic grooming, meeting a friendly dog and loose leash walking.

I hope you've enjoyed this first introduction to my pack! I'll introduce Ryker and Timmy in upcoming posts. I look forward to helping you get those special images of the amazing dogs in your life! Contact me to schedule a session now!
